Created by High Lord Franklin early in the winter of 108, the House Castle stands at the center of the newly decreed Flight lands, encompassing a valley with a huge lake in the middle of it, hidden in the mountains somewhere north of the Great Vale. At a quick glance, the Castle (a somewhat unlikely name, as it bears a stronger resemblance to an Old World hunting lodge than anything else) doesn't seem so extraordinary - a wooden building, with room enough to sleep ten or twelve people inside, and a pond (or hockey rink, depending on the season) out back giving way to the edge of a small forest. The most obvious surprise comes when you step out the front door and look down - off the edge of the platform, to the ground 10,000 feet below.
The bigger surprise would come to those who asked just how this floating platform and its hunting lodge came to be. If they were bold enough to ask the right questions of the right people (not an easy thing, when the person you seek is someone willing to give up the Warrior Lord's secrets…), they might be told that in fact, when the members of the House first saw their new lands, there was nothing in the air here at all. It was High Lord Franklin, bringing together the Power of all in his House, who created first the platform and then the Castle seemingly from thin air. This most spectacular use of the hidden side of the Flight power is still not much talked about, as the existence of the Castle itself remains a closely guarded secret.
In its first year, the Castle has been given over principally to the care of Vikki Muse Krugar, under the guidance of her father, Lord Ichor. However, other House members, including High Lord Franklin, make a point of "dropping in" when they get the opportunity. Like other House lands, the Castle remains a metaphysical and spiritual "good place" for its own people.
